Quilting for Slave Lake

On May 15th of this year a wildfire raged through the town of Slave Lake AB, destroying homes and property and leaving over 700 people homeless.
A group of quilters have formed with the mandate of having a quilt for every child and one adult quilt per household lost. They also want every family to have a table runner for Christmas.
Our guild, Valley Peacemakers, had a sewing day this past Saturday and produced these beauties!

These are "20 minute" table runners........mine took 2 hours, one must allow for much visiting as well! About a dozen were made, with about a dozen more in the works.
Most of us have kid's lap quilts in the works as well, with the extra motivation to have them done in time for them to be received by Christmas.

Our group also finished a quilt for a member who is palliative with breast cancer. She wanted to finish this quilt for her son before she passed. The binding and label were finished on Saturday and delivered to her on Saturday afternoon. She passed away on Sunday afternoon. RIP Cheryl, we will miss you dearly.

Quilters have huge hearts <3
