What I have been up to.....

While there are still numerous projects I can't show yet, I have been working on some non-Christmas projects.

I consider myself a baby artist and love to experiment and learn lots of new things so.......

I am taking an online Mandala class and these were drawn from simple templates provided by the instructor
:

and this is an almost completed one, my first foray into watercolour crayons, hopefully more practise with smooth things out! There is still a class to come on how to do the finishing details, so I will post that once that happens.

And I am also taking an advanced She Art class, and am learning to add eyes, nose and mouths to my girlies.
So this is my first completed one from this class!

Thanks as always for visiting my blog!

Remembering

In Flanders Fields
Poppy photographed on the First World War battlefield of the Somme near the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing.
by John McCrae, May 1915

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Santa's Worksop

Winter is settling in here

So I have been hunkering down, staying warm and working on these:

The large ones are for the mitten tree at church, the little ones are for the nursery at the hospital, all are just awaiting their pompoms.

At guild this week we tried this fun technique with the Lil' Twister template,

These little gems are made from 5" charms and make a great border all lined up in a row. I bought  this template and the larger Twister template that uses 10" layer cake squares and can't wait to dive into my fat quarter stash and play!

Been working on lots of other quilty and mixed media projects but Santa won't let me show them and spoil the surprises!!

On a personal note, would really appreciate your thoughts and prayers for my husband Bruce and his family as their dad spends his final weeks in palliative care in hospital in Prince George. Thanks
