Walking on Water

It's Family Day long weekend here in Alberta, so we got out and had a few adventures.
On Saturday we took a little drive and crossed an ice bridge, a first for me! In the summer months there is a little ferry operating here and we have been on it many times to go across to one of our favourite camp sites.

I am standing in the middle of the river looking south.

Our Sunday hike took us out on to the Heart River, a small tributary of the Peace River.

Unless we get another hard freeze (which I hope not!) we won't get out on it again this winter.

Lots of sunshine and scenery along the way.

Another first today, snow shoeing! A free lesson at our local museum, put on by The Ministry of Environment/ Sustainable Resources. It was lots of fun and we will definitely be buying a couple of pairs for next winter.

What a weekend full of firsts for me, knitting my first ever cables on what will be a beret! Not much quilting getting done as I just want to knit!

My lovely hubby modelling the hat from the last post, he was quite tickled it was for him.

Less than two weeks now til our big trip, getting really excited for warm sunshiny adventures.

  1. The scenery in your area is beautiful, but it still looks somewhat cold to me!
The knitted cables look great, can't wait to see it done.

It was warmed up allot, we have even been above 0C a few days! Anything less than the minus teens is quite tolerable!
